SENATOR BRUNO: HONDA JET SELECTS ALBANY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Senator Joseph L. Bruno recently announced that HondaJet has selected the Albany International Airport as their site for Northeast sales and service of it’s first-ever line of aircraft. Representatives from Honda, the Airport and local community dignitaries joined with Senator Bruno, who secured $500,000 in support of this project, to celebrate more good news for the Capital Region economy.

"HondaJet looked at sites all over the Northeast and selected the Albany International Airport based on the outstanding services and its world class facilities," said Senator Bruno. "The Honda brand is synonymous with quality, comfort and reliability, and they will be a welcome addition to the growing number of businesses operating here at the Albany International Airport. This is huge for everybody."

The 20,000 sq. ft. facility is one of five facilities that HondaJet will or is currently building in the United States, employing 25 while creating 50-60 construction jobs. Hondajet is currently awaiting approval from the Federal Aviation Administration to begin producing their first model five-passenger jet, each costing just under $4 million. The Albany dealership will cover a territory stretching from the Canadian border to the mid-Atlantic.

"We are committed to providing our customers with both a class-leading product and a sales and service in Albany," said Honda Aircraft President and CEO Michimasa Fujino.

"Ultimately, Albany and the State of New York provide an ideal balance of culture, future vision, proximity of the major Northeastern markets and technical fit for the site," said Paul "Mac" Langston, chairman and chief executive of HondaJet East.

The facility is slated to be completed in 2010.
