Senator Joseph L. Bruno joined with officials to cut the ribbon on the $15 million expansion of Saratoga Gaming and Raceway, which will add entertainment and food venues, as well as more gaming machines.
The 45,000-square-foot addition includes 431 more video gaming machines, a 300 seat Garden Buffet restaurant and a two-story night club called Vapor. It will also include additional parking.
Groundbreaking for the expansion took place in October of 2006.
"This expansion will solidify the Racino as a premiere destination, adding another jewel to the crown that is Saratoga," said Senator Bruno. "The need to expand proves not only that the Racino continuing to grow in popularity, but that the public is supportive of this kind of entertainment."
"Since its initial opening, over$190 million has been raised for education as a result of the Saratoga Racino's success," New York Lottery Deputy Director Susan E. Miller said. "The expansion looks to bring in more revenue, which in turn will help achieve greater goals toward education."
According to Executive Vice President and General Manager Jaime Hartman, an additional 150 employees have been hired, bringing the total to more than 600 part- and full-timers.
"All thats left to complete the expansion are some minor cosmetic touch ups as well as landscaping around the exterior of the facility," Hartman said.
