This web site is committed to shining a harsh public spotlight on a process that has led to the indictment of an innocent man.

After three years, thousands of man hours, a Grand Jury whose legal lifespan was expiring and a change in Presidential administration that will bring career changes to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, an indictment has been handed up that charges the Hon. Joseph Bruno with a crime that would challenge a law professor to interpret.

It’s not so much a miscarriage of justice as a perversion of prosecution.

Joseph Bruno has spent decades as a part time legislator. Prior to that, he was a full time and rather successful technology entrepreneur.  But unlike virtually everyone else in Albany, he is not a lawyer and, obviously, was never a member of a law firm earning billable hours. So during his years as a state senator he kept up a business as a consultant, using his years of practical experience running a company to advise others how to spot trends, how to protect their bottom line and how to succeed.

So the U.S. Attorney’s office has indicted him.

Not for bribery. Or extortion. Or any of the other obvious felonies you can think of. That’s because Joe Bruno didn’t commit any crime. They got him on a prosecutor’s resentment cloaked in a legal nuance and delivered to the media for public consumption.

In the weeks and months to come his friends, colleagues, supporters and strangers outraged at this corrosive legal assault will be on this web site, writing blogs, offering commentaries, providing insight and asking why a lame duck U.S. Attorney’s Office, desperate to indict before their Grand Jury would disband, was able to dishonor an honorable man.

Fortunately, it will be an open court of law, before a fair judge and a jury of his peers, that Joe Bruno will be able to respond to this indictment. But at what a cost. His indictment is the real crime, where the victim has been victimized again.
