Receives Civic Leadership Award at Russell Sage College

Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno was recently honored with the Civic Leadership Award from The Academy for Character Education at Russell Sage College in Troy. The program operates with the Sage College�s School of Education and works with civic organizations, businesses, and government to promote character-based ambitions within all aspects of life.
"It is vitally important to instill in all young adults the knowledge of good values and strong character," said Senator Bruno. "Each day through my work with all members of our State government, I am driven by the virtues embedded in me by my parents and I am confident that this program will continue to guide our youth to a lifelong righteous path. I am delighted to accept this award and I am grateful to the Academy for Character Education for their efforts in molding the future generations of our state -- one child at a time."
Senator Bruno was selected to receive this award by the Leadership Board of the Academy for Character Education at the Sage Colleges. The Academy, established in 2000, cultivates the character traits of responsibility, civility, respect, honesty, fairness, trustworthiness, and citizenship in students throughout the Sage College�s School of Education as well as in families and communities. Conferences and workshops are available for all members of the school and general community to promote the character education training needs in the region.
