Wednesday, August 3, 2005
Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno was on hand today at ROUSE, Inc.s annual picnic in Grafton State Park to present the organization with a $37,000 check for the purchase of two twelve passenger vans to transport seniors in Rensselaer County to medical appointments, activities at senior centers, and other daily errands.
"I would like to thank Senator Bruno, who has been a continuous and dedicated supporter of ROUSE, Inc. in all of our endeavors," said Ken Fleming, President of ROUSE, Inc. "These funds will allow us to purchase two new twelve passenger vans, which will replace our old vans that have been retired because of excessive mileage. The new vans will allow us to better serve those seniors in need of our assistance throughout the county."
"There are over 26,000 seniors in Rensselaer County who have come to depend on the services offered by ROUSE, Inc." said Senator Bruno. "Many of these seniors have no way of getting around on their own. I am pleased to provide these funds for the purchase of vans that will help the elderly residents of Rensselaer County get to important medical appointments, and carry on with daily activities that will sustain their quality of life."
R.O.U.S.E, Inc. (Rensselaer Organizations United for Senior Endeavors) was founded over twenty years ago in response to the growing senior population nationally. This not-for-profit coalition consists of 38 senior clubs and six senior nutrition sites in Rensselaer County.
