Downloadable Flag Now Available for Window, Home, Office Display
Friday, September 14, 2001
Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno today urged New Yorkers to join their fellow Americans in showing their pride by flying the U.S. Flag at homes and businesses and announced the availability of printable paper flags through his website.
The full-color 8-1/2" x 11" flags -- suitable for printing and display on automobiles, home and office windows -- are available as a PDF file or as a JPEG image from the Senators Photo Gallery.
"All Americans should fly our flag as a sign of unity and defiance to those enemies of freedom and those who sponsor terror and violence against our nation and our way of life," Senator Bruno said.
"Our bursting pride, however, has led to a reported shortage of flags at stores around the country. Until fresh supplies of flags are available, I encourage everyone to print these flags from their desktop computers and display them prominently and proudly," Senator Bruno said.
Congress also has urged Americans to fly the Stars and Stripes today to mark "Flags Across America Day" and for the next 30 days to memorialize the terrorist victims at the World Trade Center and Pentagon, and display the nations resolve in the tragedys wake.
The call has led to a run on stores throughout New York and the country, many of which have already depleted their supplies of U.S. Flags, bunting and other patriotic symbols.
The printable U.S. Flags offered by the Senate are a welcome substitute for cloth flags and will help New Yorkers display their support for our nation.
