Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno today attended the Grand Opening of the new parking garage at the Rensselaer Rail Station. The garage includes over 500 covered spaces to provide travelers with a shorter and safer walk to the train station.
"The opening of this parking garage is an integral part of the overall upgrade of the train station in Rensselaer," said Senator Bruno. "This garage will provide a better traveling experience to visitors of this, the 11th busiest Amtrak station in the US, and the fully renovated facility will be not only one the busiest stations in the nation, but one of the best."
The state has invested over $14 million in the renovation of the rail station, including this parking facility and other capital improvements. It is expected that the new Rensselaer train station will open in the spring. The garage will be connected to the new station so patrons will be protected from the elements while walking from their cars to the terminal.
