Senator Bruno recently joined Rensselaer County District Attorney Kenneth Bruno in a Ceremony of Remembrance to honor the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks. The ceremony, held at Hudson Valley Community College, marked the beginning of National Crime Victims Rights Week.
"The tragic events of September 11 produced a loss of security, loss of freedom, economic losses, infrastructure damage, but most importantly and most fundamentally a incalculable loss of family, friends and loved ones," said Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno. "Crime Victims Rights Week affords us the opportunity to remember the victims of September 11 and also remind us that every man, woman and child who is victimized by crime deserves to be treated with dignity and compassion, and deserves services and support to help them in the aftermath of a crime."
This year marks the 22nd Anniversary of National Crime Victims Rights Week. This years theme is "Bringing Honor to Victims" reflecting the countrys heightened awareness of the harsh and tragic impact of crime on its victims, while underscoring the critical importance of helping all victims of crime rebuild their lives.
