Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno today attended the preview celebration for the Hudson River Exhibit, opening on November 23rd, at the Junior Museum in Troy.
The Hudson River Exhibit will enable children to take part in activities like art, puppets and books that tell the story of topics such as food webs and ocean currents. There will also be special areas where visitors can experience the water temperature, touch embedded seashells and crustaceans and see a variety of species and plants that live in the river.
Senator Bruno announced at the celebration that he secured $75,000 in funding for the Junior Museum of Troy in the form of a challenge grant.
"It has been a great pleasure to help this wonderful organization over the years," said Senator Bruno. "Making sure the Junior Museum continues its programs and remains a place for children to visit and learn is a high priority, and I am honored and proud to be able to support such a worthwhile effort."
Senator Bruno secured $2 million in funding for the conversion of the Winslow Building into the Junior Museum's new home, as well as over $200,000 in challenge grants. He also helped the museum in the process of obtaining $80,400 in DEC funding for the new Hudson River Exhibit.
