LifeSmarts Team Competes in State Finals

Wednesday, March 6, 2002

Senator Bruno recently met with members of the Shenendehowa High School LifeSmarts team who traveled to Albany to compete in the State Finals of LifeSmarts -- a program designed to teach high school students about consumer and marketplace issues.

"Of the seventy-seven teams registered in New York State, Shen was one of only nine teams to make the statewide finals and they should be very proud of their efforts," said Senator Bruno. "Given their success in this innovative program, it appears that these young men and women are acquiring the practical knowledge that will help them in their future endeavors."

LifeSmarts is a program run nationally by the National Consumers League and run statewide by the New York State Consumer Protection Board. The program complements existing school curricula and offers students from across the state an opportunity to demonstrate the marketplace knowledge they need for real life.
