Joseph L. Bruno Stadium will be home to the Tri-City ValleyCats, the Capital Region�s new professional baseball team

Senator Bruno was honored by Hudson Valley Community College when it named its new baseball stadium after him. In addition to serving both the college and the community, the Joseph L. Bruno Stadium will be home to the Tri-City Valley Cats, the Capital Region�s new professional baseball team which will have its first home game on June 21.

"It is certainly an honor to have my name connected with this beautiful, state of the art stadium," said Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno. "This is yet another step in the progressive economic development of Rensselaer County and the Capital Region and this stadium will enhance the area�s reputation as a great place for both college and professional sports."

"I�m sure the name is a surprise to no one," said HVCC President John Buono. "It�s the right thing, and the logical thing, to do. Hudson Valley Community College has no bigger benefactor and support than Joe Bruno. Over the past 25 years, as our representative in the New York State Senate, Senator Bruno has supported this college�s academic programs and physical infrastructure, helping us become, I believe, the best community college in the nation. We�re thrilled to become part of Joe Bruno�s vision for Rensselaer County and the Capital Region."

Senator Bruno secured $14 million in state funding to construct the 4,500 seat stadium which will serve as the home for both HVCC�s nationally ranked baseball team and the New York-Penn League�s Tri-City ValleyCats, a Class A affiliate of the Houston Astros. Additionally, Joseph L. Bruno Stadium will offer new academic opportunities to Hudson Valley�s students and will serve as a community resource.
