SENATOR BRUNO TO SPONSOR CHILD FOR DEC's EDUCATION SUMMER CAMP

Senator Joseph L. Bruno announced that he will be sponsoring a child from Rensselaer and Saratoga Counties to the Department of Environmental Conservation's (DEC) Education Summer Camp. The DEC's summer camps offer young people a chance to learn about forestry, aquatic life, general ecology and other topics. Campers gain lifelong memories from activities like reaching the summit of an Adirondack high peak, catching a fish, going on a canoe trip, and much more.

Two different age groups are eligible to attend the DEC's summer camps. The Environmental Education Camp Program is designed for children aged 12-14 years old, and seeks to teach the fundamentals of group dynamics, as well as principles of ecology; freshwater, field, and forest communities; and other programs like hunter safety, bird watching and fishing.

The Teenage Ecology Workshop for children aged 15-17 years old focuses on the basics, plus environmental issues facing the 21st Century. Campers also will have the chance to hike or canoe, and can choose from many additional programs.
