SENATOR BRUNO OBTAINS FUNDING FOR ENGINEERING STUDY
Tuesday, July 30, 2002
The Town of Pittstown and Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno today announced that Senator Bruno has obtained $25,000 for the construction of a new highway garage as well as an engineering study that will direct the expansion of the Town Hall.
"Thanks to Senator Bruno, the Town of Pittstown will be able to undertake the much needed engineering study that will direct the expansion of the Town Hall and the construction of a new highway garage," said Thomas Salisbury, Town Supervisor. "Now our employees as well as the surrounding community will not be burdened with loud noise or worried about their safety when using the Town's services and facilities." "Town officials are the core of every community and their safety as well as the safety of the area residents is our number one concern," said Senator Bruno. "I am pleased to have secured funding for the renovations to the Pittstown Town offices, to make the area a more efficient and safe place to work and live."
Pittstown is unique in that the Town offices are housed in the same building as the highway garage. Heavy trucks and other large pieces of equipment are entering and exiting the premises during Town office hours at the same time residents are accessing Town services. In addition, the noise level created by the highway garage disturbs the daily routine of the Town offices. The funds will be used to construct a new highway garage and renovate the Town offices.
