Certificate Program Supports our Armed Forces

Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno today announced the creation of a program dedicated to honoring our U.S. Military who are away from home performing military service. The New York State Senate's "Certificates of Appreciation" will allow area residents who know someone currently serving in the military to request a certificate that bears that person's name and display the certificate in a show of support for their patriotism and heroism.

"The men and women who serve in our military forces fight everyday to protect the freedoms and liberties we cherish as Americans," said Senator Bruno. "These certificates will allow family members and citizens to show their appreciation for our distinguished armed forces and the great work they are doing on our behalf. Their courage and valor in these tough times is truly a mark of distinction that makes us all very proud."

The certificates can be requested by contacting Senator Bruno's office and providing the name of the person to be honored, as well as the name and the mailing address of the person requesting the certificate. Senator Bruno will send constituents a personalized "Certificate of Appreciation" that can be displayed to honor someone currently serving in our military.

"In every war this nation has fought, people have taken great pride in recognizing the sacrifices of family, friends and members of the community," Senator Bruno said. "This program continues that unique, truly American tradition."
