Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno today announced $1,492,870 in state funding for a joint water project in the Villages of Schuylerville and Victory in Saratoga County.
The project consists of a new water treatment facility to treat water from an existing well in the Village of Schuylerville and includes the installation of a new well and the re-commissioning of the existing treatment plant in the Village of Victory. The proposed facilities would be designed to meet the current and future water needs of the Villages, including commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential demands.
"This state funding will allow the current water source to be replaced with a groundwater source, finally ensuring that the quality of water in Schuylerville and Victory exceeds federal and state requirements," said Senator Bruno. "Many businesses and residents will benefit from the completion of this long overdue project."
"The Villages of Schuylerville and Victory are greatly appreciative to Senator Bruno for his continued support," said John Sherman, Mayor of Schuylerville. "Securing funds for this much-needed project is a great victory for the Schuylerville-Victory Water Commission and the taxpayers of both villages."
"I can�t thank Senator Bruno enough for all the help he�s given to our communities over the years," said George Sullivan, Mayor of Victory. "These funds could not have come at a more opportune time. This project is going to keep our water rates down and will greatly benefit the residents of both villages."
The funds are provided from the state�s Financial Assistance to Business (FAB) Water Program included in the 1996 Clean Water/Clean Air Bond Act. The FAB Water Program was established to help businesses and municipalities on behalf of businesses to increase the availability and improve the quality of water supply and wastewater treatment facilities. The total cost of the proposed project is $3,300,000, with the remainder of the funds coming from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.
