The Roarke Center in Troy and Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno announced today that Senator Bruno has obtained $15,000 from the 2003-04 State budget to support several emergency assistance programs the Center provides to residents and families in the Troy community.
"The services that the Roarke Center provides to our members are indispensable to improving their quality of life," said Sister Linda ORourke, President and CEO of the Roarke Center. "We are very appreciative of Senator Brunos ongoing efforts to help our organization carry out its mission of providing hope and assistance to the disadvantaged in our community."
"Providing critical assistance services to those in need is one of the most important things we can do to build stronger communities," said Senator Bruno. "The Roarke Centers outstanding efforts have helped many individuals gain a measure of dignity and self respect, and have instilled the values of personal responsibility and hard work to assist them with improving their lives. I am very pleased to have been able to help this worthwhile organization continue their excellent service to the residents of Troy."
The Roarke Center is a multi-service social center founded in January of 1997 to serve the disadvantaged population of the Troy community. The funding will be used to provide emergency services, including food, assist recipients with paying for medical care expenses and provide transportation for those who have doctors appointments.
