Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno today announced that he has obtained $25,000 for the Mechanicville Area Community Services Center to help purchase a new heating system.
"We are extremely excited that Senator Bruno has secured this funding," said Megan Collins, Executive Director of the Mechanicville Area Community Services Center. "The Senator has been a consistent supporter of our organization and these funds, coupled with the money we received this week from the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors, will allow us to purchase a much-needed heating and cooling system."
"The programs this organization provides to the Mechanicville community are invaluable; however, winter is approaching and lack of a proper heating system will put many of these programs in jeopardy," said Senator Bruno. "I am pleased to have secured funding for their new heating system, so the center can continue the wonderful work they do on behalf of the youth and families in the community."
The Mechanicville Area Community Services Center is a non-profit community center that offers a variety of programs including after-school and summer programs for elementary students, domestic violence programs and senior programs. In addition, the center provides a home for community activities including sports leagues, aerobics classes, weekend youth programs and community group meetings.
The funds, originally requested to help support the center's youth programs, were allocated to replace the heating system following the break down of the 21 year-old heater last week.
