Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno today announced that he has secured $50,000 in state funds from the 2004-05 state budget for the Saratoga County Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC) to help support their Family Support Program services.
"These funds will allow us to continue to provide quality support to more than 100 families and children who suffer from developmental disabilities," said Valerie A. Muratori, Executive Director of Saratoga County ARC. "Senator Bruno has been a consistent supporter of our organization, and these funds will allow us to provide the much needed support that our clients depend on."
"The programs this organization provides to families and children in Saratoga County are invaluable, and I commend Saratoga ARC for their commitment to helping the developmentally disabled," said Senator Bruno. "I am pleased to have secured funding to help support their Family Support Program services, so they can continue the wonderful work they do on behalf of the community."
Saratoga County ARC's Family Support Program provides family care, respite, residential rehabilitation, direct reimbursement for special equipment, sibling support groups, parent seminars, family education and training, guardianship services, community outreach, and referral and recreation opportunities to over 100 families annually. These programs are designed to encourage the developmentally disabled to achieve their dreams and aspirations by participating in community activities, while allowing family members a much needed break from their extremely challenging responsibilities.
