The New York State Senate today unanimously passed a resolution honoring those affected by the recent tsunami tragedy that devastated several countries in Southeast Asia on December 26, 2004.
"Our hearts and prayers go out to those whose lives have been forever touched by this terrible tragedy," said Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno. "In times such as these, we realize just how precious life is and what is important right now is for everyone to come together and support the extraordinary humanitarian relief efforts currently underway in whatever way they can, so that the innocent victims of this tragedy can begin putting their lives back together."
"After the tragic events of September 11, 2001, New Yorkers showed their compassion and spirit of giving by coming together to support their fellow Americans when they needed it most," Senator Bruno said. "The outpouring of sympathy and contributions already made by countless individuals to the tsunami relief efforts demonstrates the generosity and steadfast commitment we have to helping restore hope to the victims of this awful disaster."
